In the eighth season premiere, the Camden's spend the last week of summer at a beach house. At the beginning of the summer, Simon killed Paul Smith in an automobile accident. Simon is having a hard time dealing with the fact that he killed him and everyone tries to help him. Eric and Annie try to push Simon to go back to school which begins in a week. Eric would like Paul's parents (guest-stars Katie Mitchell and Mark Moses) to accept the insurance companies offer to the money. Paul's brother vandalizes the church by adding graffti to the sign saying "Thou Shalt Not Kill". Simon runs away to New York to get away from the troubles he is having in Glen Oak.
Also, Lucy and Kevin discuss possibily having a child. Peter is spending a lot of time around Ruthie and the Camden family. Ruthie finds out about Mary and Carlos being married.
In the second season opener, the town of Everwood deals with the aftermath of Colin's unsuccessful surgery, as he is now dead. The Brown family begins to feel ostracized by the town due to Colin's death. Meanwhile, a saddened Andy feels guilty of not doing his very best as regretting now over his promise to Colin of not resuscitating him if the surgery goes wrong. Amy and the rest of the town find out about this matter and confront Dr. Brown over it.
Ash and friends offer to help the Silver Conference Officials retrieve the Ho-Oh Flame from atop a mountain shrine. However, a Sneasel and its buddies Machop and Machoke are guarding the shrine. They also meet another trainer, from the Hoenn Region, named Harrison. Harrison vows to catch the Sneasel. Will he succeed and will they get the Flame?
In a neat cossover, the wards of Holby City are bulging with patients from the train crash featured in Casualty's epic season-opener. So, back is Jason, the bitter widowed father of a newborn baby, and we now meet his mother-in-LAW (Anita Dobson). Peter Bowles guests as an old school surgeon whose competance is called into question by Zubin. And Eva Pope playes a professional escort who, it turns out, has Zubin as a client.
