Homer's search to discover his middle name leads him to an old hippie commune that his mother used to frequent. He finds a mural that his mother painted of him from the 60's, and is inspired to become a hippie.

Eric and Donna go to the Drive-in. Eric is upset when Donna invites Jackie and Kelso and they spend the entire time making out in the back keeping Eric from making a move with Donna. Red and Kitty decide to spend the night out, while Fez's American parents think that the music he listens to is Devil music.

While working on a domestic terrorism assignment, Mulder comes across an apparant hostage situation turned high-speed chase in Northern Nevada that seemingly defies belief: A woman's head explodes in a police car, yet there is no indication she was shot. Defying orders not to pursue cases resembling X-Files, Mulder and Scully head to Elko, Nevada, to assist the local police.
