Stardate: (Unknown) Captain Picard is treated for a critical injury, which causes his artificial heart to fail and then appears to pass into the afterlife. There he finds Q waiting to greet him. Q provides Picard a chance to review and alter the events in his past which led to his having an artificial heart.

Will learns a sobering lesson after Carlton pops the wrong pills from Will's locker, mistaking amphetamines for vitamins, and winds up in hospital.

During a routine-patrol, Mitch saves an Italian actress named Lena Fiori from the water. When she leaves the beach, two robbers named Sturgis and Dorsch follow her home and robs her. She calls the police and then Garner calls Mitch about it. He invites her home for dinner where Hobie has cooked a delicious meal. Later, he sends her away to a motel.

When Eldin becomes sick, Murphy brings Avery to work. While Murphy is out searching for an interview for that night's show, everyone takes turns baby-sitting and sharing their most personal feelings with him.
