The DS9 Runabout Rio Grande, with Major Kira and Dr. Bashir onboard, responds to a distress call from a Kobliad ship. The Major and Doctor are able to save one of the three passengers. The surviving Kobliad, a security officer, requests that the body of one of the dead be thoroughly examined to verify beyond a reasonable doubt that the man, Vantika, is indeed dead. Vantika had been headed to DS9 to intercept a shipment of deuridium arriving at the station from the Gamma Quadrant before he had been captured by Kobliad security.

Bud appears on a game show for single men. Meanwhile, Al and Peg doesn't sleep for days and Kelly fears that there is a conspiracy against her.

A major story gets Frank a booking on Late Night With David Letterman, and Murphy becomes jealous. Frank invites Murphy to come with him and she causes trouble in the green room with the other guests, causing their performances to be off.
